Our Bluebird houses are in compliance with the standards set out by The North American Bluebird and Audubon Society. Natural rough sawn Cedar is used so the surface is natural and not slippery. The entry is 1 1/2" for the Eastern Bluebirds. If you prefer the entry to be 1 9/16” for the western or mountain bluebirds, specify and we will accommodate. The roof of our houses overhangs and slopes to protect the entry from rain and to help keep the predators from reaching the young birds. It is hinged with leather for easy cleaning. A replacement strap is included in case it doesn't last the full life of the wood. The bottom has small drainage holes and it is constructed to have small gaps to allow good air flow.

Mount your box 4-6' high on a post or tree. Face the entrance towards the nearest large tree or shrub. If you put up more than one, place at least 100 yards apart because Bluebirds are territorial. Keep an eye on it for sparrows trying to take over. If they do, open the roof and take our their day's work, plug the hole for a day or so to give them the message.
